”Secrets as Weapons”

Synopsis

The team investigates when the hijacking of cryptocurrency en route to a safety vault in Switzerland leaves an American transporter dead and another on the run.

A New Show

I loved getting to work on FBI International, taking on one of the first episodes of the show when it was brand new. It was an honor to be trusted with this task, especially with a show that was created by Dick Wolf, whom I’ve admired for so many years.

Globetrotting

I loved working in Budapest, and traveling around Europe for our tech scouts. It was a dream to shoot the Austrian Alps for the Swiss Alps, this epic, breathtaking landscape that we captured with drones and wide lenses. I love this kind of cinematic language, and how it can be used to capture characters in moments of high voltage danger and isolation in the midst of the grandeur of nature.

Special Agents

This team of actors was such a joy to work with. I had already loved Luke Kleintank from his performance in The Man in the High Castle, and he does such an amazing job as Forrester, making a very complex role look so effortless. Heida Reed, Carter Redwood and Vinessa Vidotto were so captivating and locked in to their characters and their chemistry with one another, it felt as if they had been playing these roles for years. I loved getting to hold space for them to go deep when the scenes called for it, as well as light breaks in the tension and great one liners. And in this episode it was a thrill to be directing Fredric Lehne again, as I had cast him in a beloved role in my film SPLiT. Always such a pro and so kind and generous on set, it still caught me off guard how well he played this nasty rich guy who got what was coming to him in the form of a punch, from Forrester, that flattened him to the ground.

Car Chase

Shooting a live action car chase through the streets of Budapest was a thrill which I absolutely relished. It was amazing planning the sequence and the shots with our DP, David J Frederick, and I loved looking to films like the Bourne Identity for inspiration.
